Bio: Carol Livingstone

Carol Livingstone is currently Associate Provost and Director, Division of Management Information. She has held the same position with varying titles since 1985. Prior to this, she was a visiting instructor in the Department of Business Administration and also acting Director of the MBA program. Before moving to Urbana, she was a management consultant.

Livingstone is the chief institutional researcher for the Urbana campus, where she and her staff have developed a web site to publish an enormous amount of institutional data to the university community. She also has supervised many special studies and analyses of our campus data. She served as President of the Illinois Association of Institutional Research and has been a very active member of that organization for many years. She is particularly interested in the conflict between Freedom of Information laws and the statutory confidentiality and privacy of student and other institutional records. She has recently become very fascinated by the early history of the university and has (with assistance) been transforming the data in the Alumni Record of the University of Illinois (1906 and 1913) into a usable form published on the web for researchers and genealogists.
