Bio: Noshir Contractor
Noshir Contractor is Professor of Speech Communication and Psychology. He is currently investigating
factors that lead to formation, maintenance, and dissolution of dynamically linked knowledge networks in work
communities. He is the Principal Investigator on a major three-year grant from the National Science Foundation’s
Knowledge and Distributed Intelligence Initiative to study the "Co-evolution of knowledge networks and 21st
century organizational forms." Professor Contractor has published or presented over 75 research papers dealing
with organizations and communication. He is the lead developer of IKNOW
(Inquiring Knowledge Networks On the Web), a community-ware web-based software and
Blanche, a computational modeling environment
to simulate the dynamics of social networks. He has just completed a book titled "Theories of Communication
Networks" (co-authored with Professor Peter Monge) published by Oxford University Press in 2003.
